Yamaha FG-300

PoorBest

One of our customers brought his Yamaha FG-300 (with original case) by for some freshening-up today. This nice example of an early Yamaha dreadnought belongs to Matthew Creekmore, and he let us drool on it when we were done working on it.

The FG-300 was one of Yamaha's original three jumbo acoustics, introduced to the world in 1969.  These folk guitars (hence the FG designation) had nato necks, and the famous orange Yamaha label inside the body.  The serial number is stamped on the neck block.  With a select, solid spruce top, rosewood back and sides, fully bound body, neck, and headstock, this is a beautiful guitar.  The heavily designed tortoise-shell pickguard reminds us of the Gibson Doves and Hummingbirds. The split inlays on the fretboard, and the MOP inlays on the fully adjustable bridge really finish off this great guitar.

Our thanks to Matthew for letting us take care of his gear, and for letting us spend some quality time with his blast from the past.
