LINKS TO COOL SITES WE THINK YOU'LL LIKE

We make every effort to maintain accurate links.  If you find one of these links has vanished or changed, or if you know of a cool site that others might wish to see please contact the webmaster.

Cheeseland.  Not the place to order your next wheel of Gouda, but rather the place to record the master for your next CD.  Freddie and Linda Garnett have been providing high quality recordings for Golden Triangle musicians for as long as we can remember, and doing it for rates that are more than reasonable.   Forget Muscle Shoals......  we gots da Cheeseman.
Junior's Juke Joint. If you've ever lived in the delta,
or spent any time there, here's your chance to see what's actually behind the doors of
all those "interesting" looking joints you've never been in (or, if you have been in,
you're selective about who you tell). There's no good way to describe what's within;
just put some Albert King in the CD player, hit this link, and enjoy the ride.
A website devoted to that Meridian native, the father of country music, Jimmie Rodgers.  Full of info, events, etc., it's a little site that deserves a visit if you're into country or country blues.
Dave's Dark Horse Tavern occupies the oldest watering hole space in Starkville, and delivers it's guests an eclectic mix of the finest bands the area has to offer. The bands always find a receptive audience at Dave's , and the food and beverage offerings make the experience complete. (Be sure to try the Thai Pot
Stickers.) Bands usually crank up around 9:00-9:30 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, and
other nights frequently find a band booked there. Many of the bookings are recent
bookings, so check Dave's website frequently for updates.
These folks have over 20,000 rock and roll songs online, with lyrics, chords, and
sometimes tablature. Site is easily searchable, and is a great lyric reference for tunes
your band wants to work up. Many lyrics/tab sites have been taken down in recent
years due to legal wranglings, but these folks are up and running.
Mike Smith is back, but no need to lock your doors and hide your pets.... a least, not yet.  Mike's got the newest version of the Musician's Guild up and running.  Click the banner above to see what's new for musicians in northeast Mississippi.  If you're in a band, want to be in a band, or like to keep up with bands (are you getting the idea here?), this might just be the place for you.
Everbody seems to know that OLGA is offline due to threatened legal
action by the Fox Agency. Well, the Eric Clapton lyrics archive has been taken down,
according to the internet, due to some legal gesturings. However, if you need E.C.
lyrics, over 270 song lyrics are archived on a European mirror site that still operates.
Site is well organized, and has just about all E.C. has ever done.
Doyle Dykes has, for years, thrilled music lovers with his
unparallelled performances. From the Grand Ole Opry to the sanctuary, this former
pastor has turned the world of acoustic fingerpicking on it's ear. Read up on his
history, his schedule, and other events in his career at his official home webpage. A
well done page, it features a straight text/graphics page in addition to a
Shockwave/Real Time version.
NAMM is now in it's 100th year, and Backstage is proud to be a member.
NAMM supports music education, and helps it's members better serve the music
community. NAMM also sponsors cool kids' shows like ETV's Charlie Horse's Music
Pizza.
Recess Records distributes recordings of about a dozen brash young
punk bands. Their main claim to fame is their association with Starkville's own
Grumpies. If your record collection has more than two Perry Como albums, pass on
this site, 'cause you won't get it. In addition to the Grumpies, the label represents
bands with non-mainstream names such as Dwarves, Civic Minded 5, and other
head-scratchers.
Blues Lyrics Online provides blues lyrics for free. Site has search capabilities.
Deaf Dude Lyrics is online thanks to the private efforts of an AOL member. This site offers lyrics to hundreds of well-known songs from the 70's. Content is mostly Top 40 and MoTown related.
The definitive Allman Brothers Band site. It's full of history, current goings-on, and upcoming tour/recording info. Allman Bros. fans can spend hours here. Great photos, and even a chance to provide input for their next tour.
Rick's Cafe has been supporting local and national talent since day
one by providing a full stage venue. Everyone from new local bands to Kenny Wayne
Shepherd has played at Rick's. Check this site for upcoming bands and pics of recent
events. You can frequently find Backstage Music's customers onstage at Rick's.
Hooray! Phil Keaggy finally has his own site, and, unlike the previous
site, no plugins are required to visit this site. Real Player is helpful for listening to
some of the audio clips, but it's not required. This is a well designed site that loads
quickly, looks good, and is full of good info. Keaggy has been recognized by
Fingerstyle Magazine as one the premier acoustic guitarists of our day.
Let's face it, a lot of Backstage Music's customers (and employees) are electronic junkies. We like taking things apart, putting them back together, and wondering what to do with the leftover parts. This site is heavily populated with schematics and info on processors, effects pedals, and tube amps. It also have a strong list of links to similar pages. Gearheads rejoice, this site exists.
Supported by donations from ZZ Top and private citizens, the Delta Blues Museum in
Clarksdale, Mississippi is a living tribute to the artists who made American music what
it is today. This website, sponsored by the city of Clarksdale, lists concerts (past and
present), merchandise, tons of blues info, and a chance to join the Delta Blues Society.
"#1 Songs From 1930-1999" features lyrics (no chords, no tab, just lyrics) to hundrds of top ranked tunes from the Dorsey Brothers to the Doobie Brothers. This site loads fast, and is searchable (and quickly so) by artist, title, or year. More recent years aren't as populated as older years.
The Lyrics Connection is probably your best source of links to sites dedicated to lyrics. Your band has to do a special request at the last minute, and nobody knows the words? This site can lead you to them. This site itself contains no lyrics, just links to many, many sites that DO have lyrics.
Brad's Page of Steel is dedicated to steel guitars and those who play them, from Dobros to dual neck Fender pedals. This is probably the definitive steel guitar site on the web.
THE LAST PAGE
This is the last page we'll list as a link. It's self explanatory, and should serve as a lesson to us all.
